Vincent’s Homes was founded in 2020 as part of a global commitment by the Congregation of the Mission to address homelessness. Our organization is part of a global movement to end homelessness that began in 2017, when the Vincentian Family launched the FamVin Homeless Alliance (FHA) to mark the 400th anniversary of the Vincentian charism. With more than 150 countries involved, the FHA works to unite Vincentian organizations around practical solutions and systemic change for the 1.2 billion people worldwide who lack a safe place to call home.
The campaign draws inspiration from St. Vincent de Paul himself. Nearly four centuries ago, he organized the construction of 13 homes in Paris to shelter children living on the streets. This simple, concrete act of compassion became the model for the 13 Houses Campaign, a worldwide initiative challenging every country where the Vincentian Family serves to create housing for those most in need. Today, that mission continues on a global scale through 125 projects in 79 countries, which have helped house over 10,000 people across 2,700 different properties worldwide.
Here in Philadelphia, the Vincentians of the Eastern Province joined forces with Community Solutions, a national nonprofit working to end homelessness, and BDP Impact Real Estate, a mission-driven development firm. Together, they launched Vincent’s Homes to carry this vision forward in our local community.
Vincent’s Homes provides safe, affordable housing for individuals and families with limited financial resources in Philadelphia. We acquire and rehabilitate residential properties in and around East Germantown, transforming them into high-quality homes that meet our healthy building standards.
Through our housing trust model, we ensure long-term affordability and community-centered stewardship. Families are referred to Vincent’s Homes by trusted social service partners, and rents are set at levels accessible to those with limited financial means.
Today, Vincent’s Homes includes 17 single-family homes and one former convent, offering stable housing—and renewed hope—to dozens of individuals and families.
At the heart of our work is the belief that housing is more than shelter; it is the foundation for dignity, stability, and opportunity. By providing well-maintained, affordable homes, Vincent’s Homes helps families build stronger, more secure futures.
